Previously, we took you through six tips that you might not have known about Minecraft. Although they weren't likely to yield you hundreds of diamonds every single time you play, they were neat little tricks that you and your friends might be able to use to play a new Minecraft game with the upper hand. With this in mind, we know that there are more than just six really good tricks which is why we have compiled another list. Without further ado, let’s take a look!
Fishing Rod - To start, let’s have a little fun with one of the most underused tools in the game - the fishing rod. Of course, fishing for food in a small pool of water can be fun although a little unpredictable. However, you can also use fishing rods to pull friendly and hostile mobs towards your position. Just as you normally would, cast the rod and, if you hit them, click a second time and you can pull them in!
Colored Dog Collars - To avoid being alone in the game, one good thing to do is to get a pet in the shape of a dog. If you like dogs, let’s face it they can be useful for hunting and for other reasons, you can get more than one. When you do this though, they all have the same color collar. With this in mind, you can change the color of the collar by holding a dye and clicking on the dog.
Milk - Although milk is used mainly as a crafting ingredient in Minecraft, you may not know that it also has another use. If you are poisoned or have consumed a potion of some type, you can remove the effects of such by then consuming milk. For something so easily attainable, it can actually be a very useful item to carry around with you.
Nether Portals - When you have built yourself a home and are ready to take the jump, you can challenge yourself by going into the nether. However, getting there in the first place can be a little tricky because you will need to mine obsidian which requires a diamond pick and is normally surrounded by lava. To make the process a little easier, you actually only need 10 blocks instead of the 14 that is normally quoted. Why? Because you don’t need the corner blocks in order for the portal to work!
Colored Armor - Earlier, we found out that you could dye dog collars and this can come in handy. As well as collars, you can also dye leather armor to change your appearance. In addition to being cheaper than buying custom skins, you can differentiate yourself from your friends and all other users. As you may have seen, this does require leather armor which is a downside but can still provide some fun.
Be Careful in the Desert - Have you ever thrown an item down by accident? Normally, this isn't a problem because you can walk over to it and pick it back up. Sadly, the same accident will not see the same solution work when you’re around cactus because the item will actually disappear. Therefore, you need to be careful when around this particular block; how devastating would it be to lose a diamond sword to a cactus?
Door City - Finally, we have a trick that won’t so much help you as give you and your friends a good time. If you have a house or group of buildings, try surrounding them four walls of doors because this increases the chances of an iron golem spawning. When players try this, they normally report an iron golem within a matter of minutes. If you want to access your little village from any angle, the many doors will also come in handy!
